This program is for people at all stages of their journey in understanding gender and sexuality, including those who...
- know very little or nothing at all about LGBTQIA+ identities
- are familiar with the basics of gender and sexuality but are looking for a refresher
- are exploring their own identity and where they may fall on the gender and sexuality spectrums
- want to improve and expand their skills and tool box when it comes to being an ally and advocate to the queer community
- are confident in their understanding of the queer community but want to learn how to explain queer culture to others in a way that is concise and digestible
- want to prepare themselves to skillfully handle harassment in the workplace
- work closely with queer individuals and want a better understanding of how to support them at work

About Your Instructor
Amanda Blumenthal is the founder of Intimacy Professionals Association and one of the top intimacy coordinators (ICs) in the world. She has worked on hundreds of scenes of intimacy with the film and TV industry's top performers, directors, and producers. Some of her credits as an IC include Euphoria (HBO), Carnival Row (Amazon), The Affair (Showtime), and The L Word: Generation Q (Showtime).
Amanda is a sought-after speaker on the topic of intimacy for the screen and has spoken at the Sundance Film Festival, Women in Film, Film Independent, American Film Market, the USC Peter Stark Production Program, and more.
Prior to her career as an intimacy coordinator, Amanda worked as a sex and relationship coach with private clients. As a proud member of the queer community herself, Amanda has done sex-positive education work and advocacy work for the LGBTQIA+ community and for survivors of sexual assault.

What's Covered in the Program?
This program is entirely self-paced and immediately available upon purchase, so you can do it whenever and wherever it is convenient for you. During our time together we will cover the following material over the course of four modules:
MODULE 1: Gender 101
In this unit we will lay the foundation for understanding what exactly is gender. We will discuss:
- The difference between biological sex and gender, and how both are social constructs
- Why it's important to understand gender
- A variety of key terms related to gender that you need to know in order to fully understand gender
- What is gender attribution and why is it problematic
- What are gender congruence, gender euphoria, and gender dysphoria
- What are gender pronouns
- How to use the singular "they" as a gender pronoun
- Why it's important to use the correct gender pronouns for others
- Techniques for learning to use the singular "they"
MODULE 2: Sexuality and Sexual Orientation
Sexuality is a broad and complex subject, so in this unit we will break it down into easy-to-understand pieces by discussing the following:

What is sexual orientation

Different types of attraction that people can experience
- The concept of heteronormativity and why it's harmful
- Different models for understanding sexuality
- The process of coming out and what it means for someone to be outed
- How to support someone who comes out to you
MODULE 3: The LGBTQIA+ Spectrum
If you've ever wondered what the LGBTQIA+ acronym stands for, this unit will clarify any questions you might have. In this module, we will talk about:
- What does LGBTQIA+ stand for and the identities in the acronym

A variety of other genders and sexual orientations not listed in the acronym that go beyond being cisgender and straight
- How to be respectful of trans, nonbinary, and gender non-conforming folks
MODULE 4: Advocacy and Allyship
In this last module, we will take all of the information we have learned and apply it to the real world as we discuss how we can all act as advocates and allies to the LGBTQIA+ community. Some of the topics we will cover include:
- Why allyship is important
- Ways in which we can be allies and advocates for LGBTQIA+ colleagues, friends, and family members
- Offensive words and phrases to avoid, and what language to use instead
- Strategies for speaking up and dealing with harassment of LGBTQIA+ folks in the workplace
- Trans rights in the workplace in the USA
